Paradox Coffeeshop
Paradox Coffeeshop has been part of Amsterdam for decades. Located in the Jordaan and known as Coffeeshop #11, we’re one of the city’s original licensed coffeeshops, built on trust, consistency, and doing things properly.
Our spacecake is what we’re known for. The process has been gently refined over the years to ensure clarity and reliability, while staying true to its original character. Everything is prepared in advance, clearly labelled, and exactly what we say it is. And when needed, Aunty Mil can still bake a fresh batch herself.
Inside, Paradox is a calm place to slow down. Art on the walls, board games on the tables, good coffee and tea, and a relaxed mix of locals and visitors. Our crew is always happy to explain how things work and help you find what’s right for you.

A Historic Jordaan Building
Our historical building is a refurbished old horse stable with deep historical ties to the Amsterdam Fire Department.

A Jordaan Original Since 1991
Our connection with local art goes right back to 1991, when the shop was originally known as The Painter before becoming Paradox.
Today, we continue that creative tradition by displaying work from local artists on our walls. The artwork changes regularly, so there is often something new to discover whenever you visit.
The original wall artwork was created by the legendary local artist and Paradox regular Stanley Heinze.

Visiting Paradox
If you would like to buy our products, you are very welcome to visit us in person at our coffeeshop in the Jordaan. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you.
Paradox is dog friendly, so you’re welcome to bring your four-legged companion along.
Volcano vaporizers by Storz & Bickel are also available for customers to use inside the coffeeshop. If you haven’t used one before, simply ask our team for help.
